Thailand X-ray Absorption Society (TXAS) was founded by Synchrotron Light Research Institute (SLRI) and users of beamline 8, a transporting and optical system of synchrotron X-ray beam dedicated to X-ray absorption Spectroscopy (BL8: XAS). Since the first operation of BL8 in 2006, the number of research projects using XAS techniques, to obtain new information on the properties of materials, has considerably increased in Thailand. Recently, more than 70 scientists, engineers, students and technical staffs (most of which are BL8 users) reunited at the 1st annual user meeting of BL8, held on Oct 4, 2010 at the Siam City Hotel in Bangkok. At this meeting, it was decided to form the Thailand X-ray Absorption Society (TXAS).
The purpose of the TXAS is to oversee activities which benefit the community as a whole, to establish operational committees, establish the peer review committee, self-organize the beamtime schedule, support the mentoring system, transfer the experimental and theoretical knowledge in XAS techniques, provide and share the reference standard spectra.
This website is created to be a center for on-line communication, updated information relevant to TXAS. Scientists, students and practitioners who use various X-ray based experimental techniques (XAS, EXAFS, XANES, NEXAFS, etc.) are all welcome.
