1. Checking the Measurement Technique Information

      If you are interested in using synchrotron light, you can check the general information of the measurement techniques provided, and our operation schedule at http://www.slri.or.th.For more information, please contact the Users Office at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or contact the relevant beamline managers;

2. How to Submit Proposals for SPL Beamtime Allocations

       To conduct experiments at Siam Photon Laboratories (SPL), users are required to be members of the SPL (download: application form). SLRI accepts research proposals throughout the year. Those who are interested in using the SPL facilities are asked to please complete the proposal application form(U1) and send it to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it The Program Assessment Sub-committees (PAC) reviews proposals and allocates beamtime twice a year before synchrotron operation starts.

3.
Proposal Assessment and Beamtime Allocation

      Approximately 30 days before the start of each synchrotron operation period, each Program Assessment Sub-committee will call for a meeting to assess and allocate beamtime for the accepted proposals. The scheduled beamtime depends on the operation shift (11 hours/shift). After the meeting each PAC secretary will schedule an experimental beamtime table for the individually approved projects. This process will take around 7 days. Furthermore, the secretaries are required to report the results of the assessment and beamtime allocation to the Users Group Committee for approval. Evaluation of proposals and beamtime allocations must follow the policy and get the approval of the individual PAC. However, any decisions made must not be against the policy of the Users Group Committee. In the case that a proposal has limitations due to research techniques or for severe safety reasons, the Synchrotron Light Research Institute (Public Organization) (SLRI) will coordinate and adjust the appropriateness of the proposal, or consider withdrawing it for reasons which the PAC has given.

4.
Announcement of Approved Proposals and Schedule of Beamtime Allocation

       The Users Office will inform project leaders and/or co-researchers of the assessment results and beamtime allocation schedules via e-mail and telephone at least three weeks before the start of the synchrotron operation term. Therefore the proposal researchers will have sufficient time to travel to the Siam Photon Laboratory.

5.  Utilization of Synchrotron Light at the Siam Photon Laboratory

       The Users Office can coordinate both transportation and accommodation for users during the experimental period at SPL. Therefore, the project leader should notify the names and status of his co-researchers (project leader, participated researchers, students, and observers) to the Users Office who will issue the appropriate identity cards for the researchers and accompanying personnel. Moreover, the Users Office has the right to prohibit any non-certified personnel from entering the facility for the safety of SPL.
