With the aim to provide knowledge-base in accelerator physics, Synchrotron Light Research Institute (Public Organization) (SLRI) organized the workshop "1st SLRI-CERN ASEAN Accelerator School 2017: Introduction to Accelerator Physics" between 28th August – 1st September 2017 at SLRI headquarter, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. More than 48 participants are from Thailand and ASEAN countries included researchers and university students with comprehensive knowledge in science, engineering as well as the interest in accelerator physic.

Throughout 5-days, the activities consisted of intensive series of lectures delivered by distinguished lecturers from numbers of international academic and research institutes: Prof. Emmanuel Tsesmelis, the Principle Physicist from CERN lectured in the Opening Talk session (Introduction to Particle Physics), "Introduction to Accelerators", and "Applications to Accelerator", Asst. Prof. Burin Asavapibhop from Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand lectured in "Introduction to Relativity" and "Introduction to Electro Magnetic (E.M.) Therory", Dr. Andrea Latina, the Physicist from CERN gave the full-day lectures in "Transverse Beam Dynamics I & II", "Longitudinal Beam Dynamics I & II" and "Electron Dynamics", Dr. Calvi Marco, the Physicist from Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) Switzerland letured in "Magnets & Insertion Devices I & II", Dr. Sakhorn Rimjaem from the Department of Physic and Material, Faculty of Science, Chiangmai University, Thailand lectured in "Radio Frequency (RF) System I & II", Professor June-Rong Chen from the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC), Taiwan lectured in "Vacuum System I & II", Professor Moo Hyun Yoon from Department of Physics, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) lectured in "Linacs" and "Circular machines", Dr. Takashi Tanaka, Chief Scientist from the Advanced X-Ray Laser Laboratory of RIKEN SPring-8 Center, Japan lectured in "Synchrotron Radiation & FELs", Professor Toshiyuki Mitsuhashi from the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK), Japan lectured in the "Introduction to SR monitor I & II". Aspart from the lectures, participants had the chance to practice in lab for Lattice Design mentored by Dr. Thapakron Pulampong, Accelerator Physicist from Accelerator Department of SLRI, and facility tour led by Accelerator Physicist team of SLRI.
The school also provided special activities such as, star gazing at the Regional Observatories for the Public Network Nakhonratchasima of the Nationlal Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT), and tour to Pimai Historical Park and Thao Suranaree (Yamo) Monuments, one of the landmarks in Nakhon Ratchasima.
